SUMMARY ROLE OF RESPONSIBILTY: Committee member

Deanshanger Colts Football Club is justifiably proud of the long history within the community. The past 30 years have witnessed significant achievements and created lifelong memories for hundreds of young people. To ensure that Deanshanger Colts plays a significant part of our future for the next generation we need to be smarter about the way we preserve the traditions and values of our Club.

The Role
Deanshanger Colts Football Club is managed and run by committed volunteers. The Club Management Committee are the Clubs responsible individuals, headed by the Club Chairperson. The Club Committee is responsible for the running of the Club at a strategic and management level.
​
Time in Post
Committee Members, including the Chairperson, are elected annually and may stand for re-election at the AGM.
​
Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the Committee member is to support the Chairperson to manage a safe and effective Football Club.
Secondary Purposes
The secondary purposes of the Club Committee are:
− make decisions on behalf of the club
− take on duties to ensure everything runs smoothly.
− to serve the club members.

Accountability
While the Chairperson is ultimately responsible for the overall performance, the Club Committee are equally accountable to:
− The Football Association (County FA): The Club is accountable to the Football Association in their locality for complying with legislation applicable to the activities taking place.
− The Football Association Policies and Procedures: The Committee is responsible to the FA for the Clubs compliance with policies and procedures.
− Club Codes & Policies: Having been elected, the Committee is accountable to the members of the Club throughout their tenure.

Authority
The authority for Club Committee members is laid out in the Club Constitution.
Competencies – As Per Volunteer Role
Principal Tasks
The following are the principal tasks of the Club Committee Members, but the list is not exhaustive:
− Ensuring that the Clubs activities and matters are conducted legally and comply with The Football Associations and Club policies and procedures.
− Ensure the general welfare, safety and protection of volunteers and players when they are involved in Club activity.
− Provide, safe and secure equipment and playing kit.
− To identify priorities and potential issues and maintain plans to address those issues.
− Raise funds and ensure financial viability of the clubs running costs.
− Raise funds to provide the resources necessary for efficient and successful training all age groups and other projects as they arise.
− Ensure that the club has sufficient Coach volunteers to meet the training needs of the teams registered to play in leagues.
− To ensure that players are safeguarded from any form of abuse and to take by following the Child Protection Policy and Procedures and seeking support/advice from the County FA Safeguarding team as necessary.

- Understand the skills and experience you have, as well as your aspirations for volunteering
- Provide you with an induction, ongoing support, and training to undertake your volunteer role
- Provide regular updates about any developments in the Club that are relevant to you
- Value your contributions and providing you with potential opportunities to progress.

By registering as a Committee Volunteer with Deanshanger Colts FC I agree to abide by these principles. I support the Club in its undertakings and encourage the Club to take any necessary disciplinary actions, where warranted, of any committee member, coaches, players, parents and or spectators for repeated or serious breaches of the Codes of Conduct.
